As soon as I found out I was pregnant with a little girl, I started brainstorming DIY ideas for her nursery. Creating a nursery chock full of DIY goodness is a dream come true for a crafty momma like me 🙂 Now that my little Maeve is almost 5 months old (my, time flies!), I have started putting away all of her newborn things, which inspired this nursery DIY wall art.
I could not bear to pack away the adorable outfit she wore home from the hospital, so I decided to display it in the nursery! I figured I would share a little how-to here on my blog for any interested crafty mommies out there.
First, I picked up a shadow box at Michael’s (don’t forget your 40% off coupon!). I covered the backing with some spare gray fabric I had laying around, but you could also use cute scrapbooking paper. Using a few straight pins, I attached the gown and knit hat. Just be sure to add pins right at the top of the shoulders as the “anchors” – if you place the pins down lower, the collar will fold forward. I also pinned the little sleeves to the gown itself and all the way through to the gray fabric backing. Next, I tucked a photo of Maeve wearing the outfit I was displaying a bit behind the gown. I secured the print with double stick tape. Then, I placed and pinned the ridiculously adorable knit hat that her Auntie bought her overlapping the photo and the gown. I love how it came out! It looks so cute hanging in her nursery, and reminds me how tiny Maeve was when first came home!
